Amber Poppe goes from Intern to Full Time Intake Coordinator —

Clare Housing is thrilled to share that Amber Poppe was hired as Intake Coordinator, after having worked as an Intern. We love celebrating growth in our community — congratulations, Amber! Let’s learn a bit more about her.

Can you tell us what initially attracted you to working with Clare Housing?

I started working at Clare as an intern, I was finishing up my bachelor’s and I knew that I wanted to work in a role that made a positive impact on people that have barriers beyond their control, traumatic pasts, or just need guidance to take the next step in reaching their goals. That is when I reached out to someone I admire — and aspire to be just as amazing as one day — for ideas on an internship and I landed at Clare.

Tell us a bit about your history with Clare Housing and how you expect this experience to inform your NEW role.

My time at Clare started with our waiting list — cleaning it up, making sure things were up to date with applications, and filling vacancies. This slowly turned into a passion to learn more about the people we serve and find new ways to play a bigger role within Clare. My experience with Clare will allow me to name new connections with agencies serving the same or similar community we work with daily and collaborate with others to make an impact and learn from many perspectives and professionals. I am hopeful that I will be back to school working on getting a master’s degree in a related field in no time and will be able to bring even more to Clare Housing in the future.

What personal values are you looking forward to bringing to this new role?

I pride myself in being accepting and nonjudgmental, determined, open-minded, self-driven, and not afraid to ask questions. I look forward to continuing to utilize these qualities and learn something new at every opportunity possible.

Tell us a fun or surprising fact about you, or about what you like to do in your free time!

Most people don’t know that I grew up on a farm in a very small town, my school was K-8th and we only had 60 people! I am a mom of five amazing children, 3, almost 7, 10, 14, 17, and they are my everything. As a family we like to go camping, engage in sports, and find fun new things we all enjoy. On rainy/cold days we like to watch movies or take a trip to Urban Air and bounce the day away.  I love to go to the gym and get my hour of me time in on the regular — plus my gym is pretty amazing!

Clare Housing is excited to have you on the team, Amber!
