Emily Guyot Returns to Clare Housing as Health Care Liaison — January 24, 2023
Emily Guyot (she/her) has accepted a newly created position as one of two Healthcare Liaisons, rejoining the Clare Housing team after time away. Her dedication to the organization is incredible!
Guyot says, Making the choice to come back to Clare was easy. Not only do I believe in the mission statement and everything that Clare stands for as an agency, but I found myself missing the day-to-day interactions with both Clare residents and Clare staff. Even after leaving Clare to teach, I found myself talking about Clare with family and friends often, and I noticed I still said “we”, like I had never left. I just knew I wasn’t done yet.
Tell us a little about your history at Clare – when did you start? What initially attracted you to working here?
I started as a Resident Assistant at Clare Apartments back in 2015, and in 2019, I was awarded the position of Housing Stability Specialist at Clare Terrace and Marshall Flats. I’ve really been lucky because I’ve gotten to work at all of the buildings and have met so many residents. Working in more than one role at Clare has given me so much clarity into how important each and every staff person is to the daily operations. I have been deeply humbled by some of the lived experiences that our residents have faced and I am excited to be a part of our nursing and healthcare department that works to make sure all of our homecare folks get the care that they deserve.
What are you most excited about in your new role?
I hope that I can help to create a non-judgmental environment where people feel safe and heard. I believe in meeting people where they are and leading with respect and kindness. When we step out of our doors each morning we’re sometimes met with an inconsiderate world; nobody should ever have to deal with that unkindness where they live. I also want to be an advocate for our residents to ensure that they are getting the medical care that they need and that their voices are heard and honored.
Tell us a surprising fact about you – or what you like to do in your free time.
I’m a homebody. I love to read – I have challenged myself to read 150 books in 2023. I also have three dogs named Fondue, Tex, and Herman that are my world. Tex just celebrated his 18th birthday! He can technically buy a lottery ticket now.
We are so glad to have you back on the team, Emily – and we hope that if Tex wins the lottery, he helps buy you more books to read!
