Internal HR Position Filled by Long Time Clare Housing Employee — April 13, 2022
We thrilled for Angela North to transition into a new role with Clare Housing as our new IN-HOUSE Human Resources Specialist!
Can you tell us what initially attracted you to working with Clare Housing?
I originally came to work at Clare (then AIDS care partners) as a way to get out of the house while I was a stay-at-home mom. I wanted to get back into using my skills to care for adults. I had worked in nursing homes and other care providing jobs and always enjoyed the rewarding feeling of making a difference in someone’s day to day.
Tell us a bit about your history with Clare Housing and how you expect this experience to inform your NEW role.
I started this work as a part time employee. I was astounded by the amazing care that was being provided to the residents in the care homes. I was truly honored to care for people in their final years in a beautiful home surrounded by dedicated staff. I worked in every position available in the homes over the years and have been the Community Care Home manager for all the homes for the last 13 years. I have seen Clare bend and grow to serve the changing population of people affected by HIV/AIDS. I am coming into my new position with a vast amount of hands-on experience and look forward to continuing my advocacy and support to the staff of Clare Housing, who truly do make a difference in the lives of the people we serve.
What personal values are you looking forward to bringing to this new role?
I truly believe in the work Clare Housing does, which is why 18 years later, I am still here. I have been a part of providing harm reduction/housing first to people who need it the most. I have witnessed the successes of the residents, the grief of loss and compassion and comradery of the staff. I know the challenges and the rewards of providing housing in the changing landscape of HIV/AIDS. I look forward to bringing that hands-on experience to this role.
Tell us a fun or surprising fact about you, or about what you like to do in your free time!
I am also a professional artist. I am an oil painter, sculptor, performer, community artist and teacher.
We couldn’t be more excited for Angela to bring her caring work to this new role. Congratulations, Angela!
