We haven’t forgotten about the people living in the encampments. Neither have you. Together, we have already ended homelessness for over 250 people living with HIV in Minnesota. Your support will provide the foundation for us to end homelessness for 20 more, and enable us to respond to future challenges like this one.

Franklin Ave encampment, Minneapolis, MPR News

The tent camps in the Twin Cities are an urgent and very visible issue. What you may not know is that there have been no less than 8 different displacement events where encampments have been cleared out since last June.

With your help, we will end this cycle for 20 people from the encampments, people like Darla and her dog Doug, whose story we sent you recently. We know 140 people remaining in the encampments are living with HIV, and that number is growing. Make no mistake, this is a public health crisis.

Like Darla, who is living with congestive heart failure, they have a pre-existing condition that makes them susceptible to COVID-19. Due to practices like needle sharing, the rate of HIV transmission in the encampments is rising. Fortunately, the pandemic proved that with your help, Clare Housing CAN and DOES respond.

We have a bold plan to house 20 people in the coming months. This type of rapid-response to an escalating challenge is new to us. But the need is clear and urgent. Please, join us by making a gift today. Help us keep our promises to these neighbors in crisis.
