Tonight in the Twin Cities there will be 400 people who have HIV or AIDS who will be sleeping on the streets. There are 7,000 in our community living with this disease and 50% of them will be homeless or have a housing crisis during the course of their illness. In our own community the need for safe, affordable HIV-specific housing is real and growing. National research shows that by providing housing to those who are HIV positive and homeless reduces the spread of HIV and improves health outcomes.
Clare Housing is the largest housing provider in Minnesota for people living with HIV/AIDS, operating six community group homes, 77 units in two affordable housing apartment buildings and 20 units of scattered-site apartments for families. Through these programs, Clare Housing provides housing and supportive services to 145 individuals and 10 families who are living with HIV/AIDS in the Twin Cities.
Our growing waiting list shows that there is a need in our community. In order to continue to expand our housing and supportive services programs we need your help. Please consider a donation of:
- $35 to help a client with nursing care and assistance with the administration of their medication.
- $50 to provide one week of food for a client in our community care home.
- $100 to generously help with the cost of moving a client into one of our housing programs.
By making a gift today your donation will make a large impact to address the growing need in our community for affordable housing and supportive services for people living with HIV/AIDS. No gift is too small.
Clare Housing's goal is simple - to provide a continuum of housing and services designed to empower people of low-income and to maximize their health, independence, dignity, and quality of life. Last year, we were able to expand our housing and service programs and minimize our expenses without diminishing the quality of care we provide to our clients. This year, we plan to do the same.
