When Agape Dos was in the planning stages, Lori Nieters and Paul Wilkin became aware of the "AIDS house" that was being built on their block. "It really interested us both, but we were too busy to become involved at that time."

Volunteer Opportunities

Companionship, nurturing care and support

  • Evening meal preparation at one of our six foster care homes; bring in your own specialty. Gourmet skills absolutely not necessary! (2-3 hours)
  • Provide household assistance - light housekeeping, laundry, small repair and painting. (2-3 hours)
  • Yard maintenance - mowing, garden care, snow removal (2-3 hours)
  • Visit with the residents - share a DVD, a game of cribbage or just a chat. (2 hours)
  • Share your special skills such as manicures, massage, hair dressing. (2 hours)
  • Be available to answer phones, run errands and fill in the gaps as needed. (2 hours)

Administrative and organizational support

  • Assist with general office support at Clare Housing offices - data management, special mailings, thank you notes, typing, phone calls. (2-3 hours)
  • Assist at front desk at Clare Apartments (2-3 hours)
  • Contribute to the production and distribution of our newsletter.
  • Support community based special events in a variety of ways, including planning, securing various materials and items specific to the event, promoting the event and finally, attend and enjoy the activities!
  • Participate in committees focused on fundraising, public relations and special events. (as needed)
