For the past 30 years the MN HIV Housing Coalition has engaged in collaborative strategies to prevent and end housing instability and homelessness by strengthening and expanding pathways to stable places to call home for people living with HIV.
HIV and housing access is an intersectional issue in all of our communities. Minnesotans who are unstably housed, who are LGBTQ+, who are Black, Brown or Native, who are newcomers to the US, or who share IV injection equipment, are all more likely to receive an HIV diagnosis. And someone living with HIV is more likely to experience housing instability in their lifetime.
But HIV transmissions and housing instability are PREVENTABLE.
Today, we aim to elevate the programs, strategies/resources, and successes achieved, as well as close the gaps in HIV housing resources that are essential for Minnesotans living with HIV to achieve a lifetime of stability, viral undetectability, and be empowered members of our communities.
Mission: We are housing champions, HIV advocates, and Minnesotans with a mission of ending HIV transmissions by expanding opportunities for safe and healthy homes Minnesotans living with HIV can afford through advocacy, education, and best practices.
Vision: We envision a future where a continuum of permanent housing-options in rural, urban, and suburban communities is readily accessible to support the stability, health, and dignity of people living with HIV throughout their lifetimes.
Coalitions are only as strong as their partnerships!
The MN HIV Housing Coalition welcomes housing and HIV service organizations, HIV housing champions, and Minnesotans to be a part of our advocacy, education, and leadership.
Recognizing that organizational and individual capacity to support and lead coalition actions may change over time, and we welcome you to participate in the way that best provides sustainable engagement.
